For venues and planners moving tools
Moving to Metis from another event planning tool
Whatever you are using today, your rooms do not have to be redrawn from memory. Export what you already have as a PDF or image, set its scale in Metis, and trace it into an editable room you own — then lay out the event, seat the guests and walk the finished plan in 3D.
Switching guides
Each one covers the same ground for a different kind of team.
Social Tables alternative
For hotels, banqueting and catering teams. Answer the enquiry in the enquiry.
Cvent Event Diagramming alternative
For conference venues, corporate planners and agencies. What Metis does not do.
iVvy alternative
For venue sales and events teams. Put your rooms on your own website.
EventDraw alternative
For anyone who draws event floor plans. Real sizes, not approximations.
Prismm / AllSeated alternative
For venues whose plans live in Prismm, including how to get them out as a PDF and back into an editable room.
Using something that is not listed? Email [email protected] with an exported plan and we will tell you honestly whether it will import cleanly — and set the first room up with you if it does.
Bringing the rooms you already have
The route in is the same whatever you are leaving behind.
1 — Export
Save the floor plan you already have as a PDF, PNG, JPG or SVG.
2 — Import
Create a plan in Metis, choose Import Existing Floorplan and upload it.
3 — Scale
Pick two points you know the real distance between and type it in. Printed dimensions are not read for you.
4 — Trace
Detect the visible walls, doors and windows, review what it found and edit anything it misread.
5 — Keep
Save the finished room as a venue template. Every future event in that room starts from it.
Check the tracing before you trust it. Detection is an editable starting point, not a substitute for reading the source drawing — confirm the scale, the wall joins, which way the doors swing and anything faint or heavily annotated.
What you get once the room is in
Editable 2D rooms
Walls that snap, doors and windows that cut their own openings, real hire-stock table sizes and twenty-plus chair types at their true footprint.
3D on every plan
Every layout opens as a walkthrough — fly round it, walk it at eye level, or switch the party lighting on. Included on every paid tier.
Layouts generated for you
Auto Layout fills the room in banquet, cabaret, theatre, classroom or U-shape; the Optimiser ranks alternatives for capacity, spacing, sightlines or fire-exit clearance.
Guests in seats
Import the list, seat it automatically, adjust per chair, and print the table plans the room team works from.
Client sign-off
Review links open the plan in 2D and 3D for comments, with no account and nothing to install.
Templates you keep
Each room is built once and reused forever, and the library belongs to your venue.
